What others say is true - the body of the jacket is tight, while the sleeves are soooo long. I got a size 4T for my small-ish 4 year old. She loved how it felt on, because she felt cozy. I think that's because it is snug in the bodice. Which means that it won't work with a snow bib and sweater underneath it. Then the sleeves were very long. I had to roll up like 5 inches. That's a big cuff. The proportions do not make sense, especially since many toddlers have a big belly because their intestine and organs need someplace to go.I think the size 4T jacket would work on a scrawny 6 year old. Then the sleeves would work. But then the bodice would be short (it would only come down to the top of the waist). So....maybe not. I'm not sure who to recommend this jacket to.The material of the jacket is the kind that would work in the snow. I got the really pretty grape print. It's more of a bluish purple.Had high hopes for these coats for both my 6 and 3 year old girls, but was disappointed by the fit. We ordered a size up based on other reviews ( ordered 7/8 for my 6 yr old, and a 4T for my 3 yr old) and while the body and length were just right, with a little room to grow in, the sleeve length is ridiculously long. We've had Columbia coats before and just roll the cuff up a bit, but due to the thickness of this coat, its quite difficult to do and looks a little funny. My 3 year old had almost 4 inches of extra length on her arms making it unwearable and a size down would be too tight through the body. While we would love to keep the other one, the coat is pretty bulky to start and with the sleeve length issue, it's going to have to go back as well.Colors and quality were 5 star of course, but wish Columbia would address the sizing with the sleeve, as it seems to be a common problem across the boarc with many different winter styles.I have a very picky young lady who originally complained when I opened the package. After feeling the material she then says "WOW this is soft" proceeded by "WOW this is warm" so my 10yr old likes it. Now I myself loved it as soon as I opened it without seeing it on her. We got some really cute gloves to match and a scarf and WA-LA she is ready for Chicago Winter's hopefully not a polar vortex again! She is a tall 10yr old 4'11 with long arms I got her a X-Large and it fits perfectly, she has room with a sweatshirt under and is a very comfortable fit. I recommend this coat!It is a super cute jacket. Got an xxs for my petite 3 year old who's almost 4. She's about 33 pounds and it's a snug fit but we'll get plenty of use because of El NiƱo hitting California. The reason it's only three stars is because of the sleeves. They are unproprotionally long. My daughter isn't a pterodactyl so we have to fold the sleeves up and over about 5 inches. I didn't think it would be as bad as it is. My daughter loves to tuck her hand in her sleeves so I thought it would work. I'll probably have it tailored. Someone at the pattern department at Columbia better make sure their measurements are right next time.My 6 year old daughter LOVED this coat. She said it was so comfy and she liked the design/colors. She is a tall, slim 6 year old and the size 7/8 fits her now and should also fit her next Fall. I like that this jacket seems durable and warm but you can also layer a vest and fleece under it to make it warmer. The hood is also very cozy looking since it is fleece lined. I would recommend this coat.Runs a bit small but amazingly light and very warm. I only dress my 8 year old daughter in a t-shirt and a long sleeve shirt and she says she is always warm even in 15-20 degree weather. I did buy 2 sizes one 7-8 medium and also a large 10-12 I think she will outgrow the 7-8 size by next year. I am very pleased with this product and it's worth the money. My niece will benefit from the medium size next year. It's really true that you get what you pay for.The colors are beautiful, but the fit is a little funny. The sleeves are a bit long and tight and also fleece lined, so my daughter has trouble with being "squished" with her other sleeves. This is warmer than I thought, very cozy, and nice that the back is a little longer than the front. I bought a 6 for my size 5 girl hoping to get 2 years out of it, but that seems unlikely. My daughter is 6 and I think decently talk for her age. The arms ok this are pretty long she still a little slack in the armS. It fits her right at her waist line. Which I guess is just how the jacket firs.
